Sr. Mary Maurita Sengelaub, RSM, celebrates her 100th birthday June 28 at the Mercy Life Center in Farmington Hills, Mich. A nurse, hospital administrator and advocate for health care services for migrant workers, Sr. Sengelaub was the first woman religious and non-cleric to head CHA, a responsibility she held in the early to mid-1970s. The CHA Board of Trustees commended her achievements during her six-decade plus career in health care with a resolution stating their appreciation. The board said her work influenced the ethical, legal and administrative structure of Catholic health care today. Sr. Sengelaub is shown at her party flanked by her cousins Suzanne Ernest and Steven Voelker.
