Feast of St. Francis Webinar: Caring for Creation: Making the Commitment to Reduce Carbon Emissions

Presented on September 21, 2022
In his recent message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation Pope Francis laments the destruction of our common home and calls for "all of us to act decisively. For we are reaching 'a breaking point.'" He specifically calls on the need for all nations to work together "to reduce to zero, as quickly as possible, net greenhouse gas emissions."

The U.S. health sector makes up 8.5 percent of the nation's total greenhouse gas emissions and is facing calls to decarbonize. As Catholic health care providers, we are called to act on this urgent issue (and climate change as a whole) given the grave threat it presents to human health and God's gift of creation. Join this webinar to hear from Health Care Without Harm about how leading health systems are measuring their climate impact with greenhouse gas inventories, establishing targets in alignment with existing pledges, and building plans for action.

This webinar is part of CHA's celebration of Season of Creation and Feast of St. Francis and its commitment to the Laudato Si' Action Platform.
