Statement on Upholding the Dignity in Each Other

Statement by Sister Carol Keehan, DC, President & Chief Executive Officer
Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA)

Aug. 17, 2017 – The Catholic Health Association (CHA), whose members daily treat victims of hatred and violence, was profoundly saddened by the tragic events in Charlottesville. This nation, founded on the belief that all are created equal by our Creator, is always at its best when we cherish that dignity in each other. Undermining that dignity in any of us truly undermines the dignity in all of us. Organized efforts to spread hatred and threaten violence for any reason have no place in this great nation.

At Catholic health care facilities across our country people of all races, religions and ethnicities are compassionately cared for by caregivers of all races, religions and ethnicities. We who serve in this ministry of healing pledge our prayers and efforts to be part of the healing of our nation.
