CHA Condemns Court Ruling on ACA Cost-Sharing

Statement by Sister Carol Keehan, DC, President & CEO, Catholic Health Association

(May 13, 2016) Yesterday the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled against cost-sharing provisions in the Affordable Care Act that help low-income, working people afford insurance coverage.

This decision, which we hope will be reversed on appeal, puts in jeopardy vital financial assistance to low-income families who finally have health insurance and economic security. Allowing the District Court’s ruling to stand would be a callous attack on the working people of this country.

It is not worthy of our great nation to continue needlessly litigating a law that is working to expand coverage and improve our health care system.

At CHA, we are confident that the Affordable Care Act will endure this latest legal challenge and continue to provide the American people with the meaningful, affordable health insurance they deserve. ##
