Overview

A Medical Safe Haven for Victims – A CHA Human Trafficking Webinar

Jan. 17, 2018
3 to 4 p.m. ET

To help our members bring awareness to the month of January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and in preparation for the International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking on Feb. 8, CHA is hosting a human trafficking webinar.

A Dignity Health family medicine center in Sacramento has created a safe haven medicine residency clinic. It serves the dual purpose of providing medical care for human trafficking victims and training future physicians to recognize and treat victims. This session will describe why and how the clinic got started and present a model for replicating the center in other communities, using guidance from the 2017 Human Trafficking Leadership Academy.

Objectives

The purpose of this webinar is to:

  • Describe the scope of human trafficking in the US.
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of victimization.
  • Provide victim-centered, trauma-informed care.
  • Understand where to access local resources.
