His innovations brought significant improvements in Bon Secours' already strong measures of clinical quality, while improving patient satisfaction scores by 10 percent. He strengthened the organization's bottom line while also implementing stewardship programs that have saved Bon Secours more than $400 million in four years.

As a result of his employee-focused innovations including a Just Wage program, Employee Wellness and a focus on diversity and inclusion, Bon Secours was recognized as a national and international leader in employee  engagement.

And under his leadership, Bon Secours' Healthy Communities Initiatives have revitalized neighborhoods, provided affordable housing units and delivered life-skills programming supporting hundreds of families  annually.

A recognized leader in the health care sector, Rich is the chairman of Premier and serves on the boards of Covenant Health and Mercy Housing. His leadership brought Bon Secours into the Innovation Institute as a member-owner organization. As chair of the CHA Board of Trustees, he inspired the Covering a Nation plan for universal, affordable health care coverage. And he is a passionate champion of the poor and underserved wherever they live, from the inner city of Baltimore to Peru, Haiti, and South Africa.
