This webinar highlighted the process
that led Adventist Health System to make a commitment of personnel and financial
resources to support physician well-being. Participants in the original webinar
got a sense of the "how to" for starting such an effort, including what evidence
is needed to support the initiative, which constituencies need to be on board
and tips for how to get started, even in a small way.
The webinar explored the work of
Mercy Health System in St. Louis as it began to engage its physician and clinic staff
in discussion of its mission. Discoveries in that process led Mercy to consider ways to
move to a deeper level of engagement as well. Learning from their ongoing clinic
formation initiative, which focuses on the call to the healing profession,
were shared during the webinar.
Overall, as a ministry committed to
providing hope and healing, we cannot ignore the challenges our clinicians are
facing. Partnering with physicians to help them reignite their sense of calling
and also connect with the mission of Catholic health care is essential for
quality, safety and physician well being. Please plan to use this webinar
CD as an individual, or a part of a clinical team, so that you can learn
practices by two health organizations trying to do just that.
Presenters: Michael Doyle, M.Div., Executive
Director, Mission and Physician Practices, Mercy; and John Guarneri,
M.D., Chairman and Medical Director, Department of Healthcare Spirituality,
Florida Hospital.
