While
current international outreach activities are alleviating
the suffering of people in developing countries, it is becoming more and
more essential that work is done in partnership—with each other and with those
who live and work in the developing world. No longer can we operate in isolation
doing the same thing “we’ve always done,” or go into a country and try and
operate as we would in the U.S. To this end, there are several collaborative efforts
happening between CHA, its members and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) that
create opportunities for further partnership. This webinar,
featuring CRS president and CEO, Carolyn Woo, highlighted opportunities for future partnership and
some of those current activities, including:
- The rebuilding of the Hospital St. François de Sales, a
200-bed teaching hospital, in Haiti.
- Strengthening the Haiti health system through a
faith-based network of seven hospitals.
- Catholic Relief Services’ 10-year, multimillion dollar
collaboration with CHA, the University of Notre Dame and others called
"Strengthening Faith-Based Health Systems.”
- Several CHA-member initiatives.
