Site can serve as resource for CHA members, patients

A coalition including CHA launched a consumer website this month to inform people about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. CHA members can use the resource to help educate the communities they serve about health care reform.

The website, at www.HealthCareAndYou.org, provides information on the Affordable Care Act, its provisions and developments related to its implementation. The information is tailored by location, so visitors can select the state where they live and obtain customized information about the impact of the law.

The website is from Health Care and You, a coalition of provider, consumer and patient groups including CHA. Other members of the coalition are AARP, the American Medical Association, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians, the American Nurses Association and the National Community Pharmacists Association.

"We are pleased to be part of this important coalition that is working to get reliable, helpful information to people who can benefit from the Affordable Care Act right now — as well as those who stand to benefit in the coming months and years," said Jeff Tieman, CHA senior director, health reform initiatives.

He encouraged Catholic-sponsored health systems, hospitals and long-term care facilities to display a short introductory video and/or web button on their organization's home page to link community members to the coalition resource. Those materials are available on CHA's home page.
