As the Church’s ministry of health care, we are acutely aware of the need for help and healing in Nepal following the earthquake. We ask that you join us in prayer for those who are victims as well as those persons who are providing relief services to the women, men and children in this devastated region.
As you consider any relief efforts, CHA has a document that provides some considerations and guidance, Disaster Response: Considerations for Catholic Health Care. It can be accessed as a PDF or ordered in hard copy so that you to distribute throughout your organization.
Following World Health Organization and Red Cross/Red Crescent guidelines, CHA recommends that financial contributions be made to those organizations who already are working in Nepal. They are actively assessing the needs following the earthquake and have established relationships with the local communities being served.
