Overview

Climate Change and Health – Webinar for the Feast of St. Francis

Climate change is both a moral and health concern to Catholic health care providers. Our faith and professional commitments demand prudent action to reduce our carbon footprint in order to care for creation and protect the health of all.

The health impacts of climate change are being felt in our local communities and communities worldwide. This summer we again saw health –related illness and new vector-borne diseases. Climate change also threatens food security and contributes to chronic illness, including many respiratory diseases.

This webinar will feature White House Climate Champion, Professor Laura Anderko, Ph.D., RN, from Georgetown University.

Objectives

Following this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Explain why climate change is an issue for faith-based, values driven organizations.
  • Describe how climate change is impacting health at home and abroad.
  • Describe steps health care organizations can take to reduce their impact on climate change and address health problems related to climate change.
