Catholic Health World invites amateur and professional photographers affiliated with CHA members to send us photographs that celebrate the relationship between immigrants and the Catholic health ministry.

We will select outstanding images for an exhibition at the 2008 Catholic Health Assembly, June 22-24, in San Diego. Those photographs and others will be on display in an online gallery opening on the CHA website this spring.

The exhibition and web gallery will feature photographs taken in the United States of people or programs with a connection to Catholic health care. The project is intended to show outreach to immigrants as well as ways that immigrants enrich the workplace and contribute to the ministry's healing mission.

We seek publication-quality narrative photographs that require very limited text accompaniment to tell a powerful human interest story. We welcome environmental shots, mood shots, exceptional portraits and photojournalism.

Photographers and their subjects are required to sign and submit photo releases, which are available on this site. Recognizing the vulnerable position of undocumented immigrants, we ask that any potentially sensitive material be flagged for special attention.

Checklist for submitting photo(s):

1. Print our release forms. For spanish-speaking people, you can use our translated photo release form.

2. Complete and sign the photographer release form; have all subjects pictured sign release forms.

3. Mail releases along with a copy of the high-resolution electronic photograph you plan to upload to:

4. Upload high resolution image.

Photos and releases must be received by April 30 to be considered for inclusion in the photo exhibition at the 2008 Catholic Health Assembly.
