Saint Joseph opens replacement campus in Mount Sterling, Ky.
Saint Joseph Health System of Lexington, Ky., has opened a $60 million, 40-bed hospital to replace its 51-year-old facility in Mount Sterling, Ky. The new campus is two miles from the old one. Saint Joseph is a member of Catholic Health Initiatives of Englewood, Colo.
Erecting a new Saint Joseph-Mount Sterling enables the facility to expand its cardiology, imaging, obstetrics and gynecology and same-day surgery offerings. All in-patient rooms are private.
Administrators said it was necessary to build anew because the old building was outmoded, and it was hard to get to given its location in a residential neighborhood. The new campus is located near an interstate highway.
