    • Medical research, including but not limited to ethical issues and topics related to the work of institutional review boards.
    • Successful research-related practices in Catholic health care facilities — those that affect patient care or the health of a community.
    • Other questions articles might address include:
      • At a time when "evidence-based medicine" is, increasingly, a goal for care, what constitutes reliable evidence? How is reliability determined?
      • How is "evidence" evaluated at a time when research is paid for by corporations that stand to profit from a particular outcome?

    • How Catholic identity is evaluated, expressed, measured, preserved or enhanced at a given Catholic health care institution, or throughout a health care system.
    • Strategies in place to enhance relations with the magisterium or with the broader church, or with other denominations or faiths.
    • How Catholic identity is preserved in cases of ACOs and/or mergers with other-than-Catholic institutions.
    • How Catholic identity is extended to clinics, physician practices and home-based care.
    • What concerns you as a health care leader have for the future and what strategies will you employ to be sure those concerns being addressed?

Again, we are open to your thoughts and ideas as well as to specific proposals for articles or opinion pieces.

    * Please Note: If you care to submit proposals for any of the topics above, or other topics altogether, kindly do so by completing a proposal form. Because we have a small staff, we may be unable to respond to all proposals, or communications requesting information about writing for Health Progress.

To answer one frequent question: Our articles usually range in length from 1,500 to 4,000 words, with a common length being around 2,000 words. The preferred length depends on the topic and is worked out with writers when an article is assigned. Instead of asking us how long a proposed article should be, please ask yourself: About how many words, or pages, do I estimate it will take to tell our story? We will offer guidance to writers about targeting content to our readers once articles have been assigned.
